Appearance and Personality;

Appearance: Unfortunately, when many people look at the prestigious Miles Edgeworth two things come to mind: old, and questionably gay. It's not his fault that he had the unfortunate genes that led to his neck length hair graying by the time he was twenty. And he would like to insist that his professional suit is wine colored, not purple. And no, he will not remove that "frilly thing" tied around his neck that he would correctly say is a cravat. Not many people can read what's behind his steely gray eyes, either.

Miles Edgeworth isn't a very tall man, but his broad stature makes up for his [almost embarrassing] height of 5'8". However, he does work out to at least keep some definition. After all, appearances were half the job. His strong facial features also seem to make you forget about his shorter status.

Personality: To put it bluntly – Edgeworth is not a nice person. Or at least, at first glance, he isn't a very nice person.

This silver-haired adult is quite arrogant, putting himself easily above others, and is very condescending and belittling towards others…as far as work goes. Even outside his job, he can't help but be somewhat of a conceited snob, though depending on the person, he may lighten up some.

Edgeworth expects nothing but perfection. He can be quite the ruthless in court – disregarding anything that isn't presented right in front of him. The first time he lost to Phoenix Wright, he took the loss extremely personally, and obsessed over it constantly. It had been remarked by his detective that he crushed a paper cup of hot coffee with his bare hand and didn't notice because of his mind constantly on the issue!

When it comes to his dog Pesu, however, his emotional being may as well hinge on him. He would never show anybody just how he treats his friends compared to everyone else, but if you get close enough, you might manage to get a peek at this hidden side of him.

Strengths and Weaknesses;
while others hide likewise behind this vulnerable squinting

Abilities/Strengths: Miles use of words becomes extremely useful in court. He is considered a prodigy, and took the prosecution stand at the tender age of twenty. Since then, he has never lost a single case. Unfortunately, this way with words has also helped him in fixing his witness' testimonies to better his case. The prosecutor is very organized, and it is often very hard to find a flaw in his case.

Weaknesses: Miles is not the first to admit he has weaknesses. In fact, he is the last person who would ever admit that he has a weakness. And even if you find out about his weaknesses, he will still deny that he has them.

There are three major weaknesses for him: Earthquakes, nightmares, and heights. If an earthquake hits, he is on the floor in the fetal position, and is often knocked unconscious. He suffers from extreme nightmares, and often has to drink a lot of coffee to keep himself awake from the lack of sleep the nightmares give him. Heights are also an issue, and he often has his assistants grab cases from the high shelves.

History;
casting shadows from the past

History: Growing up in suburban LA, Miles had dreamed to become a great defense attorney to stand up for the innocent like his father, Gregory Edgeworth. Unfortunately, Miles lost his mother at the age of 7 when she was hit by a drunk driver. This may have increased Miles' idolization of his father, as he was the only one left in his life.

In the fourth grade, a fellow classmate named Phoenix Wright was put "on trial" for supposedly stealing another kids' lunch money. Little Edgeworth couldn't stand the senseless accusations surrounding him, and he jumped to Phoenix's defense and presented the evidence saying there was no way Phoenix could have stolen the lunch money. The two of them became friends, but that was only to last a short time.

When Miles' was ten, his father brought the boy to a large case. While his father lost the case, he did deal a huge blow to the prosecutor's, Manfred vonKarma, perfect record. On the way out of the building, Gregory, Miles, and the court bailiff Yanni Yogi were riding the elevator when a sudden earthquake hit and put it out of commission. The trio were stuck in that elevator for over five hours, and oxygen was starting to thin out in the pitch black elevator. Yanni Yogi was unable to stand being trapped in the small dark place, and with lowered oxygen levels, he started to pick a fight with Gregory. In an attempt to stop the squabbling men, Miles threw the nearest thing he could reach – which was Yogi's pistol that slipped from its holster during the struggle. Unfortunately, the pistol's safety had been knocked off, and a shot rang. The last thing Miles remembered was a terrible scream before he blacked out from the lack of oxygen.

When he woke up, he found his father dead on the ground of the elevator with a bullet through his heart. During the case that followed the murder, the DL6, it was determined that Yanni Yogi committed the murder due to temporary insanity. However, Miles doesn't believe that verdict. Deep inside, he truly thinks he was the one that murdered his father…

Manfred vonKarma returned and decided to take the orphaned boy in to raise him as the next prosecuting prodigy. Miles subsequently grew up in Germany with an older sister, Sophia, and a younger sister, Franziska.

By the time Miles was 20, he had successfully graduated from law school at the top of his class. Since his disastrous first case whose verdict was undecided due to the untimely death of the defendant, Miles had won every single case until one Phoenix Wright managed to prove the innocence of Maya Fey. Angered by this blow to his perfect record by a rookie of all people, Edgeworth wanted to find every way possible to crush his fourth grade best friend. However, two cases later, Miles found himself on the defense stand, and only Phoenix Wright was willing to defend him.

The case Miles found himself in had many ties to the DL6, and it was finally determined that Miles did not kill the victim, and it was uncovered that it truly was Manfred vonKarma who killed his father. Unable to deal with the crushing weight of the discovery and another case that brought up his past, Miles left with only a note saying 'Miles Edgeworth chooses death'.

Miles went on a long journey of self discovery – on finding the true meaning of what being a prosecutor really meant. Unfortunately, the time when Phoenix needed him the most, Miles' plane crashed on the way back to the States to help his comrade. He died on that plane crash, and subsequently ended up at Template…
